“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” * *William Shakespeare In paintings, flowers last a lifetime. For Valentine’s Day, enjoy the beauty of a floral painting! With Valentine's day approaching I had flowers on my mind. As I was shopping for flowers to paint for a still life I began to wonder about roses; the color red and what the flower symbolizes. To satisfy my curiosity I looked up famous paintings of roses. The significance of paintings is that they capture and preserve life and nature forever. The meaning of flowers and colors is personal. What feelings do they evoke? What color do you prefer? I decided to paint roses and other flowers for Valentine's Day. Please view my floral works, all 5" x 7" watercolors on my website or on Saatchi Gallery in the links below. Flowers that last a lifetime exist in paintings!
