About The Artwork

I found this orange scenario to make 1st a fast portrait. A worker was sort of measuring the light coming forma a future window. I documented it. One of these provisionary inhabitants of the arhcitecture, the work in progress, had painted with brick, a fake Rothko on the cement wall. The dust on the ground shows the performatic gestural neo-abstract-expressionist mark on the wall. In the workshop, I painted in a realistic way this beautiful image I found. I only added a tube of "professional painting" as a quote, a joke, a long term homage. As they sing while they build the houses of others, (Victor Grippo dixit) i stay in the workshop using my craft to celebrate the mystery of beauty. That is why it is called "Rothko, pintura encontrada" Like a quote to the surreal gift or ensamble, object trouvé This is what i call a "Pinture trouvé", why? Because I found this sceene and was quik enogh to make a photo, I then painted it and added an element from my home-workshop, the profesional acrylic tube and painted it in oil. I become a worker of my craft for the beauty of these images, that do not belong to me, as the housed that the workers I portray will not belong to them. Workers making this sort of playful and dramatick rothko on the cement wall using bricks, it is just AMAZING...things that will remain invisible in the layers of the future space... invisible like them, but fundamental action for everyday construction...

I live and work in Buenos Aires. I am a painter. I also make site-specific instalations, generally related to my archive of photos of workers I meet around my city, And I paint them mixing portraits with elements of my life in oil on canvas. Since 2005 I document everyday situations using photography to paint. I also use mixed media, and combine painting with photography to make abstract and mural paintings. Making site-specific installations has enriched my sensibility and the way I paint aswell. Collections that own my work (selection) Schaub collection. Miami Gravel collection. Colorado.
