ABOUT THE ARTWORK

One of the characters I am most attracted to are the Geishas. Other figures I work with are: clowns, puppets, musicians. A characteristic of my characters is that they have no identity of their own, they hide behind a character and make-up. Mystical and magical character, I am inspired by the female figure, her gestures and I am passionate about her attire with an infinity of colours and the contrast with her pale make-up.I work with a mixed technique with different materials on a base of fabric or wood mainly. I recycle discarded materials to make the collages of my creations. Some of the materials I recycle are: Coffee grounds, egg cartons, soda cans and paper napkins. The paper and cardboard I use I paint and prepare carefully. I have introduced a new organic material to make the crackle face. The collector who buys the work in the details we will explain the technique used. You can follow me in instagram in joseppozoart and You can follow my work on my youtube channel

I am Josep Pozo, born in Olot in 1971, One of the characters that attracts me the most are the Geishas, those artists that for me have no defined identity, their identity is hidden behind a make-up. That is what I try to transmit in my works, because for me they are a mystical and magical character. My restlessness made me evolve the characters painted in the urban series, looking for the protagonism of the figure as the main theme in my works. That's where the geisha, the clown, the puppets, the musicians came up, simply because of an impulse, a thought at that moment. In what these characters transmit to me, I think they have aspects and qualifiers in common. From this elegant woman, I am inspired by the feminine figure, her gestures and I am passionate about her attire with an infinity of colours and the contrast with her pale make-up. In my works I use a mixed technique, as I work with different materials on a base of fabric or wood mainly, since being a rigid base helps me to be able to make collages with different materials and use products for its fixation. One of the characteristics of this technique is the use of recycled materials collaborating with the sustainability of the environment. I use discarded materials to make my creations. Some of the materials I recycle are: Coffee grounds, egg cartons, soda cans and paper napkins. The paper and cardboard I use for the collage I paint and prepare carefully. I am in a universe of feelings, colours and freedom. By not representing identity in my characters I try to transmit freedom, freedom to be whoever you want to be, not depending on a face or clothing to identify you. In these three figurative characters I feel a connection through their attire and their faces that inspire me liberty and the strength to overcome. Also the intention of transmitting the message of the sustainability of the system that of the many material residues that we generate, part of them can be used to create.          JOSEP POZO according to the artist RICARDO MORÁN. "I have known Josep Pozo for many years, exactly when he was starting to attend the classes of the Municipal School of Belles Arts in Sant Joan les Fonts (Girona). At that time he was a dynamic boy, with a real desire to learn and very clear ideas about what he really wanted.
