About The Artwork

SUGAR MOUTH is an original acrylic painting, which comes unframed on a deep stretcher, that can be hung directly onto the wall. The bright PINK colour led the direction of this painting. It is such an intense deep pink, that I wanted to use in this picture. It is sensuous, bold, warm and captivating. The rest of the painting had to dance around this colour, complementing it, gently playing second fiddle to it's bold dominance. I used bold suggestive lines, peeking into the picture frame, which create detail and dynamism. I love this painting. It is soft and sexy. It is bold and nuanced. It is strong and powerful.

"I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform. Using pattern and mark to create rhythm, I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. This creates glimpses, hidden spaces, things half_ shown, suggested. I use delicate layers of texture, drawing and colour to create an ambiguous space. The image is then worked and re_worked until the image is “found”. Only when a balance and integration is achieved I feel that the painting is finished. I like to think of them as “visual poems”. This sensual world is one to be absorbed, felt, and enjoyed. "
