With this piece, I will be honest. Initially it was a geometrical art piece with plenty of colors but it was too simple for my liking. Therefore, I covered it with very liquid paint and I started to scratch , discovering new figures. I see two people in a refuge waiting for the storm to end to head back to their boat. It teaches me that we can always change and that after the storm the sun always rises.

I'm currently living in Madrid, but I was born and raised in Venezuela in the 70s. In my teenage years, I gained interest in arts by watching a neighbor that painted incredibly. With him I began my journey with charcoal work, landscape painting and still life painting with oil. Soon University came, work, kids, and lack of time overtook my days. I had always dreamed of painting. The smell of turpentine submerged me . I loved going to art supplies shops and spend hours observing oil painting tubes and reading about their glamorous names, between my favorites: Cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, Vermilion, Toasted brown, cobalt violet...the beauty behind figurative art is that every color has its own name. Once, when I was looking for paintings to decorate my house in Madrid, I realized that what I truly liked I could not afford, so the thought of painting and creating came back to my head like crazy, this time I wanted to paint something modern and abstract, for me and my liking. Picasso has always been an artist that caught my attention, maybe it was his revolutionary take on art, but who really awakened inspiration on me was Richter. I wanted his painting in my living room! Something that was very clear to me is that I loved abstract art, using a lot of paint, spatulas, textures and bright colors to catch the eye. When I`m in front of the canva, I start to paint it with an idea in my head, but I never know how the result will look. If I do not completely like it, I will transform it. Time flies when I'm creating. If I had known that painting would have brought me peace, I wouldn't have waited so long. This adventure is like an ongoing dream and they say that “It's never too late to try”.
