This artwork represents one of local wisdoms in terms of cuisines, Sambal. Sambal is a chili sauce or paste, typically made from a mixture of a variety of chili peppers with secondary ingredients such as shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallot, scallion, palm sugar, and lime juice while 'ulek' means mash. Sambal is an Indonesian loan-word of Javanese origin (sambel). It originated from the culinary traditions of Indonesia, and is also an integral part of the cuisines of Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Brunei and Singapore.[4] It has also spread through overseas Indonesian populations to the Netherlands and Suriname. Traditional sambals are freshly made using traditional tools, such as a stone pestle and mortar as how it is depicted on my artwork. From my artwork, I am hoping to promote Indonesian culture even more worldwide that everyone may experience it even when it is in their very home. This work was done with acrylic on canvas since it does not take too long to dry it up. With a touch of Picasso's cubism, I added up my own art style into it. It has a smooth physical texture and is equipped with a high-quality frame as well as hanging hardware.

Indonesia
I was born in Indonesia on June 20th, 1966, as the youngest son among four children of my parents. I was raised in a small town called Mojokerto, and till now I still dwell in the same town with my own family. My works are influenced by Pablo Picasso and my draw inspirations come from my background as a Chinese Indonesian. I incorporate an Indonesian traditional art element called batik and Chinese element into my works, forming my own style of art. The technique I use is just basic techniques for cubism, but I also added a traditional batik element to fill the empty spaces. Mostly, I love doing acrylic on canvas because it does not need a long time to dry up.
