Santri Literate Painting

a work inspired by the life of santri in the feudal system of Islamic boarding schools. Feudalism in Islamic boarding schools has become a very strong culture among the students towards their teachers or Kyai and their descendants. Whatever the Kyai's orders are always absolute. but behind it all, the culture of reading, writing and literacy never fades. Unexpectedly, the Santries who seemed confined and isolated were actually far superior to students studying in public schools in terms of education. they consistently continue to read and learn about religion, culture, science, art and history. So in the painting, a santri with critical reasoning is depicted being showered with leftist and forbidden books which are a symbol of how critical and rich they are in terms of ideas and discourse. with a solid yellow background reflects loyalty, consistency, optimism and intelligence. Yellow also gives positive energy to people who see it. Expressive strokes and textures also arouse taste, emotion, sensitivity and aesthetics.
