Scene in scenery #3 Painting

My artwork is a plane where sights and thoughts are tuned. Looking at the landscape, we do not just perceive it only in terms of form. The landscape contains the non-visual elements of the space and memory. When you can recognize visual and non-visual elements together, you can see a special scene of your own that is contained in ordinary scenery.  The ‘Scene in scenery’ series is a landscape painting in which we can even feel the non-visual elements through a visual metaphor symbolized by a single leaf and a single flower. One scene in memory is remembered as a symbol, but one scene reminds me of the intrinsic elements of several layers. A symbol becomes a scenery in which the materials and non-verbal elements in memory are combined. The petals of that day captured as images keep the three-dimensional scenery of that day. The petals of that day overlap with the beautiful memories of the spring night and also meet the gentle breeze and warm sunlight of the spring day. The visual form we perceive is completed in combination with nonverbal emotions or non-visual elements. ‘Scene in scenery’ is the result of a metaphor that combines multiple layers.  This artwork is completed through repetition of working and waiting. After painting one layer of image at a time, I should wait for a long time to dry. Instead of regular canvas, wood was used as a support to endure the repeated multi-layers of painting work. The main material of the color is urethane paint. Transparent paint gets translucent after being mixed with powder pigments. Layers in various shapes are overlapped with each other in consecutive order. Translucent leaves and flowers are stacked and create thick matière on the wood panel. The overlapped images are completed with the unique texture effect of urethane paint. The shapes with indistinct outlines symbolize that the image is not just a visual element. Images are not limited to the visual landscape; they remind and treasure the scenery with fond memories.
