About The Artwork
Every person loves the sea and the ocean with some inexplicable feeling. In each of us, there is a nostalgia for the sea expanses. You can watch the breath of the ocean endlessly. It harmonizes, cleanses, and saturates with its strength and tranquility. The antiquity of sea creatures is unique. The unusual forms of shell structures create the feeling that the code of life is embedded in them. This natural perfection inspires me to draw the shells. Last year I was asked to write a series of works for a hotel by the sea. I love shells very much. The unusual form of the shells inspired me to come up with a new author's crackle paint technique. These new modern techniques and paints convey time and history. People like to watch the ocean, the sea, and everything connected with them, it gives peace. My name is Elena Afanasieva. I'm a professional full-time artist. I have my own art studio in Irkutsk, Siberia Russia. I studied at the Krasnoyarsk Art Institute. I work in modern abstract impressionism style using oil and acrylics mainly on canvas and cardboard. Inspiration for me is my life, moments, sunrises, nature, music, the sea, shells. The unusual form of the shells inspired me to come up with a new author's crackle paint technique which conveys time and history. People like to watch the ocean, the sea, and everything connected with them, it gives peace. That's why my artworks are created in the marine theme.
