Esme was born and grew up in Zimbabwe where she trained to become a teacher, majoring in Fine Art and Design. She spent many years working on commission selling portraits, batiks, pastel, watercolour and oil paintings. She exhibited her work regularly in Zimbabwe in the 1980's and 1990's and more recently in 2007 and 2008 in Didsbury, Manchester, where she lived for ten years. She is inspired by music, trees, nature and mystical atmospheres. Esme now lives in Spain.
