ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is an experiment in which I started with a painted background before drawing and painting the face. I wanted the colour of the background to be incorporated into the colours of the face. The inspiration came from a South African artist named Solly Smook. He paints incredible portraits using both acrylic and oils. I can only dream about being as good as his work is. It is the first I have tried using this method and hopefully the first of many! Love the feeling of peace and serenity from this painting.
