About The Artwork

"Brotherhood" series ingeniously portrays four siblings, the artist's four children, seemingly identical in age, yet harboring decades of difference. Through this temporal illusion, the series deftly unravels the subjective nature of time, reminding us that our experiences and growth can render age a mere abstraction. Time's relativity becomes a mesmerizing narrative tapestry; Brotherhood #4 is a mesmerizing artwork where the girl's long flowing hair gracefully transforms into a giant manta ray, symbolizing the sublime beauty and diversity of marine life. Among the strands of her hair, shadows of various marine creatures lurk, hinting at the hidden wonders and mysteries of the underwater world. Above, the sky showcases the ethereal Milky Way, reminding us of the vastness and interconnectedness of the universe. The juxtaposition of the girl's presence in the depths of the ocean with the celestial display above underscores the unity of all existence. In the depths of the sea, a playground emerges during the sunset, where children joyfully engage in playful activities. This imagery represents the essence of life itself, emphasizing the importance of innocence, curiosity, and the pursuit of happiness. It's intricate symbolism serves as a reminder that life is a delicate balance, where humans coexist alongside the vast wonders of the natural world.

René was born in the 60's, in São Paulo, Brazil, during the Military Dictatorship. Art bloomed in his childhood, in the 70's and his formal artistic preparation and training took place during the adolescence, between 13 and 17 years of age, when he studied art history, artistic movements and various painting techniques. For years, René developed his singular style, an amalgamation of different influences passing through enshrined names from comic books, pop art, the great classics and modern masters, contemporary art, and everything else his unquiet mind can absorb. Each artwork has a dense narrative full of details. It is like little stories that are relevant for the big picture. Sometimes, the protagonist is just a spectator, who placidly observes the scene depicted or protagonist is the viewer himself, establishing a dialogue between the collective and the individual simultaneously. Aside his career as an artist, René was an executive in the Brazilian publishing market, being a publisher and editor of magazines and books Rene's art is innovative and shares his feelings about human existence, using allegories to represent people's daily lives. His vision as an artist is to suppress his own ego from his artwork in order to create a mirror where the viewer can see himself.
