Set Me Adrift - Part 2 Painting

I am an emerging artist who has come back to art after pursuing a professional career as a Clinical Psychologist. Whilst both may on the outset seem like two different paths, for me, they are simply different expressions of who I am, what I have come to learn and what I notice about people, places and life. These are the things that inspire my artworks. In particular, I am very interested in human qualities and interaction. What we know of people is that we have a core, something that captures the essence of who we are. However, in the presence of other people or things, we become fluid, we merge with things external to us, yet it is how this changes us within that makes us unique and individual. Fluidity is a core element to humanity which is why I choose to work with resin and ink. When the resin and ink are used together, the primary colour is still identifiable yet at the same time hidden within the dynamic of the fusion. I find this to be symbolic of the way people relate to one another and to their environment. My artworks are abstract and I absolutely love watching viewers discuss what they see and express their own perspective. It’s interactive and engaging. Whilst the inspiration of my artworks are often based on human connections and fluidity, in turn it also invites conversation, communication, creating a personal experience. It taps into human perception and imagination.
