Colorist painting for modern country home decor that fits just as beautifully with contemporary decor. It is painted on a 40 x 30 inch gallery wrapped canvas (1.5 inch deep edges) with painted edges so there is no framing cost. A hanging wire is attached. This farmhouse art has bright, bold, complementary colors of orange and blue, seasoned with milky blues, pinks, and apricot. The setting was near Blanco in the Texas Hill Country. I came across this hideaway on my way to an end of life celebration for a loved one. The shack seemed to no longer be inhabited. It fit with my experience of trying to learn to value, but also let go of, what once was. Change. It is the one thing that we can count on. With change comes loss. Grief is the price we pay for love. I would add that only a fool would refuse to pay that price. This original Texas home decor piece was created with Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic and finished with Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided. It is signed.

I am a Texas artist and have painted for most of my 71 years, being from a family of artists. My mother's youngest sister, aunt Patsy, spent a lot of time with me, guiding and encouraging me, and I credit her for my passion for art. She painted under the name of "von." When she died in August of 2018, I began placing "von" somewhere on the face of each painting as an acknowledgment of her role in my artistic endeavors. My inspirations come from my home environment in Texas. Things that I have taken for granted all my life are now frequent subjects for art. Mesquites, cactus, old barns and shacks, windmills, wooden fence posts, wildflowers and the like are favorite subjects. I am a colorist, and I enjoy using color to give new life to otherwise fading beauty. In addition to color, I strive for dimension, movement, depth and unusual perspective.
