Sharing the way by Silvia Pastore Painting

I often feel the need to paint pictures where friendship, love and respect are expressed among Men, Animals and Plants. I believe that Harmony and Beauty in Nature grows from a nurturing and respectful connection between all creatures living on this Earth. In all ancient traditions Nature was revered by men. Plants and animals were seen as equally valuable and significant in the web of life. If man became fully aware that the survival of the human species is dependent on the fecundity of the land, he could not see himself as a separate and superiority entity. This convenient concept has given him the right to carry out the crudest forms of exploitation of all the other living beings on earth. In fact between men and animals runs a fine borderline. Animals feel pain, hunger, frustration, fear and betrayal of trust, just as men do. With the raising awareness about the inter-dependence of all aspects of creation, humanity can recover a sense of justice, respect and compassion towards fauna, flora and even the earth with its minerals. Silvia has a fine art degree from Central School of Art and Design, London and has studied printmaking. For the last 40 years she has worked extensively in oil, watercolour and pastel. For several years Silvia was a member of the Society for Art of Imagination and won the Watercolour Prize in 2002 at the Gallery, Cork Street, London. Since 2006 her paintings have been part of the Bridgeman Art Library, a leading world archive of art images. Since 2011 Silvia's paintings have been regularly selected by the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
