Shelter #2 Painting

This is a work that combines two of my favourite things Design and Architecture. I love Bauhaus Design and how they saw design, architecture and art as the same thing. And how modernism and all these aspects flow together. The shape of the roof in the orange section is the outline from the roof of the house I grew up in. I haven't lived there for 20 years, but it will always be my home (even though strangers live there now). It's where friendships, relationships and the best memories were made. The works are painted on wooden boards, using acrylic. Most of the sections are worked over and over scratching into them, rubbing them down and repainting. They're also sanded and polished with steel wool, so the finish is soft and really smooth. The painting sits over two wooded boards The centre one has the main image, which is glued into the middle of another. The inside board measures 17H x 15W inches, and the thickness is half an inch thick. The outer board measures 21H x 19H, and is on a thinner board that measures 4 millimetres, (sorry I couldn't work that out in inches) ? The outer board in centimetres is 53.5cm x 48.5cm.
