Due to the global pandemic, shipping will take longer than usual. SIDONIA The SORCERESS by Durango Miller. Legendary Sidonia von Borcke, beheaded and burned as a witch in 1620 - that - I know, is true. Surely one of the most famous witches of all time. Was she really charged with 80 crimes at her trial, which produced thousands of pages of court transcripts? Was she a nun? Can it be true that she was accused of having sex with the devil when he took the form of her cat named Chim? Did she really kill the entire royal family of Pomerania to the point of extinction with a curse? Was she the secret wife of the Duke? Was she a fiend who ran around the countryside murdering everyone? Was she tortured? What really happened to her baby? Was she the drunken old whore her brother portrayed her as when he accused her of sorcery? Or the beautiful seductress of the Pre-Raphaelites? Who was it that she actually poisoned? Was her severed head really stolen? What was it about Sidonia von Borcke that resulted in 400 years of folk tales? She is, I believe, one of my ancestors. Painted area 32.5 H x 25 W x 0.1 in., on a sheet 40 H x 26 W x 0.1 in. Paper weight 144lb. The painted area is surrounded by an unpainted white border - 0.5 inches on the left and right sides, 4.25 inches on the top, and 3.25 on the bottom. The border is not part of the image, but exists to facilitate handling the paper. Painted with artist-quality acrylic paint that is lightfast and permanent. I do not use fugitive pigments. The paper is YUPO, a synthetic fine-art paper that is more stable and more permanent than traditional nature-based paper ( https://legionpaper.com/yupo .) I apply the paint to the surface using long established painting rules that ensure the paint will stay in place and unchanged for as long as possible (hopefully, hundreds of years.) Painting is sealed with three thin coats of satin-finish archival art varnish (sprayed). Signed, lower left. Painted in 2017, Canada.
