Signature Piece Painting

This is the painting that started it all, it was there at the very beginning. I began working on it back in the summer of 2015 when I first lived in The Netherlands, it wasn't until the end of 2016 before it was completed. My adjustment to my new life, and the stark contrasting emotions I was feeling at the time are represented in this piece. The darkness was from the isolation and loneliness I would sometimes feel, being so far from everything and everyone I knew. The bright colours represent the excitement and bliss of finally living with the love of my life. Everything was new and moving so quickly! At the time my life was nothing short of the greatest romantic love adventure I'd ever heard of. Of course an artists creation can never quite capture all of the magic they feel inside, but that was my goal with Signature Piece. My signature is the focus of this painting because I already felt like I stood out, living in this foreign land, why not embrace it and shine? So to me, this painting really says "Look, here I am! I am bright, and I'm in the constant flow of life, trying to find my place by being brave and making it for myself." Signature Piece is very dear to my heart, and I hope that when the time comes I can let go of it. It's not one I will part with easily. This painting does not require a frame! All of my paintings are wrap around, meaning the artwork doesn't stop at the edges. The painting continues around the entirety of the piece.
