The Kids (series by Kris Gebhardt) Painting 3

“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others,” according to Jonathan Swift (1667-1745), well known satirist, poet, cleric and apparently overall overachiever. Artists, writers and parents live this quote on the daily. Painter and dad, Kris Gebhardt has portrayed what he, as artist and father, sees in his four children.

The Silent Treatment
Mixed Media On CardBoard & Reclaimed Wood
62" by 76"

Practically from birth, Sydney was a prima donna. Everyone agreed she was adorable, with her designer jeans and tees, but darling could deteriorate to diva in no time. Meltdowns occurred in the store, at the park or anyplace she didn’t get her way.

The pull the artist feels is not only to create, but to conjure beauty out of naught. The very definition of art is finding the charm in everything and that’s just what Gebhardt did. On this 62” x 76” x 4” deep canvas that was cobbled together, he depicts the fabulous Miss S. Often in his early days, he would have the yearning to paint, but lack not only the supplies, but the money to buy them. Made out of wooden bed slats that were spliced and screwed together to support a heavy duty piece of cardboard, he was able to capture Sydney’s pout and impeccable sense of style. To Be exhibited during Art Basel Week Miami at:
