About The Artwork

I examined the archives and decided to depict exactly the synagogue that stood here before the destruction in 1941, with the Gothic towers in the Renaissance style. It was built in 1582. Golden Rose is a romantic name in honor of the beloved wife of the main patron of the synagogue, Yitzhak bin Nachman. The synagogue was considered one of the most beautiful in Galicia and was the largest center of Jewish pilgrimage in Eastern Europe, as it possessed powerful energy and strength. Until our time, only one wall of a majestic building, built in a defensive style, with loopholes and one meter thick walls, which was characteristic of Eastern Europe at that time, has survived.
