About The Artwork
Lifesize portrait of sisters; the work is inspired by various painters. Jan Mankes, Rembrandt, Sam Drukker, all Dutch. Hopefully you experience a melancholic feel. A longing to a vanished world which is more intense, concentrated and slow. To reach the intensity of the painting I use oilpaint in layers. I'm very much interested in color and how to create deep surfaces versus transparent, layers and thick paint. This actual painting is commissioned. It is shown here as an example.
