Sky Falling: Negative Space All Lit Painting

This work is subtitled: Selfie as Imakatt2 (the hybrid cat character) With Red Chair in Exploding Orchard Part of my "Cosmosis Series" In this series, I had set out to continue my narrative of our yearning for the stars, or of the universe within us reaching for the universe at large...and then came wars and great turmoil, and the series reflected an urgent collective yearning for peace and safety. With its entire background or negative space crystal encrusted, the painting ignites with interactive, light reflective mood-casting through its light source, the time of day and the viewer's movements and perspective. The following are words like a poem, that came to me once finished: And then came the crystals In all the negative space Illuminating the sky The Orchard Like Stars falling Like missiles Alight Then falling And so the Orchard--our once exultant safe place--may be no longer our shelter and the red chair may represent our hopes for peace, again, or us waiting for that/those lost to be restored or transcendent
