About The Artwork

A semi-abstract oil painting that is part of a series of 'Modern Skies'. This contemporary skyscape was painted from observation and finished in the studio. Layers of oil paint in soft pastel and grey tones, have been subtly blended to recreate the atmosphere and depth of this mysterious and ethereal Sussex Landscape. The sun is peeping through the shifting clouds, casting light over the distant hills. The solid wood, professionally hand made frame, is hand painted using Farrow and Ball paint. This artwork is signed and dated not the back (and this is repeated on the back of the frame) and is ready to hang. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will be included. Artwork will be carefully wrapped and shipped within 5 working days. Unframed dimensions 13.5 x 7.5 x 0.20" Framed dimensions 20.5 x 14 x 1.2"

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
