About The Artwork

“Sky's the Limit” was created with bee's wax, oil paint, and damar resin which is added to aid in the hardening process. Layers of wax are fused onto wood with a blow torch to build luminosity and depth. The "Stars" floating within the wax symbolize dreams/wishes/aspirations all circling the upturned "good fortune" of the horseshoe. It'm honored to share my artwork with you and may "Sky's the Limit" bring many years of happiness and good fortune your way!

Born and raised in Roanoke, Va., Mary Means is a nationally collected award-winning Artist living and working in Roswell, Ga.. Mary has been creating as long as she can remember. Some of her earliest memories were watching her grandfather, Henry Kinzel, at work in his studio “He was mesmerizing..I was absolutely in awe!". After earning her BA at The University of Tennessee, she headed to Atlanta where she has been a successful gallerist and artist for over three decades. For the past few years, Mary's focus has been figurative sculpture in mixed media ceramics. “Peaceful’ is the word most often used to describe her sculpture. "I aspire to capture lightness and fully embrace the spiritual feel of my creations. It may sound strange, but I can practically feel the energy come through the clay...almost like I’m capturing an image of a visitor from above. An incredible sense of calm takes over the minute my hands touch the clay magically dispelling any lingering stress or negativity. I'm hopeful that gift of peace translates though my work". Mary's work can be found in galleries and private collections across the country. Select recent juried exhibits include First place at the 70th Annual group show at The Quinlan 2019, Reeves House “Homegrown” show 2023, and "Metro Montage" Exhibit at Marietta Cobb Museum of Art 2019, 2021, 2022
