István Zsáki graduated at the Academy of Arts in Priština. Since 1975 he has been a constant member of the Association of Visual Artists of Vojvodina (ULUV). He is one of the founding members of 9+1 Art Colony and Bucka-Gányó Art Camp. He took part in the works of several art-colonies in Yugoslavia and abroad. He regularly takes part in exhibitions and his art works can be found in Art Colonies of Bačka Topola, Bečej, Senta, Subotica, Lendava, Osijek, Bosanski Brod, Počitelj, Zalaegerszeg, Tokaj, Hajdúböszörmény, Budapest (XII district). István has had more than forty individual exhibitions and more than hundred collective exhibitions with other artists from Serbia and abroad. He exhibited in the Netherlands, France, Hungary and many larger places in Vojvodina. Currently he is running the Art Colony and the Art Galery in Bačka Topola. István started his career with abstract paintings. Landscapes made a notable part of his work in his early period. Soon he turned to a figurative composition and this is considered as his "doll period". This stage was followed by a new period in which the main motive was the land as a prehistoric material. Different objects connected to this new motive also appeared for the first time on these paintings. The view of the landscapes gets deformed and this primary matter -the land- is falling from the cosmos. The paintings keep searching for answers about the origin of the matter and the spirit itself. Depicted and set in an imaginative world of the artist, all the events take place in the sky, in airy heights, while dreadful powers keep pressing upon the calm, but defensless surface of the earth. Thanks to the careful painter himself, Zsáki's perfect mastership and sophisticated paintings never turn into some egotistic mannerism lacking any true spirit. He embarks to new adventures over and over, and with his paintings focuses on yet not discovered issues, while playing special attention to keep his own, inner continuity totaly unscraped. He returns to certain topics cyclically , however, the caused and effect relation with its fertilizing power is present all the time, and his question always leave enough space for the new ones.
