The afternoon of Feb 17, 1875 was damn cold. My igloo was the first to get central heating and cable so six neighbors huddled in as we ate blubber and watched reruns of Sir John A MacDonald's fireside chats and threw our mukluks at the screen. He was drunk and slurring as usual. There were three air vents that would sometimes get plugged with polar bear noses or penguins. It didn't help that Lenny kept on giving them maple syrup. I had a pet goose named Larry and when you squeezed his neck he would sing the Hockey night in Canada theme song... 'the national anthem' some would say. One night Larry drank a two-four and ate Lenny's hat. There was plaid goose poop for days. Next week Lenny had us over for dinner. Thinking back that goose tasted awfully familiar.
