There is a story behind this diptych that is worth telling. I recently started to make a daily written record of the moon of the day and my story of the day, energy, predominant feeling, food, symptoms, agriculture and flowers, because I live in a rural area, and I realized that this powerful force that moves the oceans, and our body waters too, slowly began to ingrain itself, not like the one to whom all emotional changes are inevitably attributed, taking part of the responsibility for our choices off our shoulders, but through what is my most powerful force, painting . The one that descends through me and that, as I read elsewhere, mirrors back to me the energy of angels. Reading this was Awwe…because now I look at my work, better saying love, with other eyes, some perhaps more divine that in most hours of the day I forget that I carry as windows of the soul. These paintings, which had been leaning against my studio for over a year, always within reach of my fleeting eyes, needed something I didn't know how to need. Hence, in countless customer visits, my answer was always no when they wanted to buy them. When on a full moon day, perhaps out of gratitude. I don't know, when I looked again I had the precise image of what they were missing. The sunlight that lays down every night to let the moon shine. This is the first of a line that will follow. My painting began in the sweetest memory of my childhood of seeing my father always in love with music. He worked with classical music all his life and had a vinyl shop were I went to help him many times, and I remember the days when he came home late and closed himself to his zen moment and flooded our beds with Chopin, Bach and Ravel. When I started painting, first figurative, my search was always on abstracts, like a first love, so It all made sense when a kind of bridge built itself in the perfect timimming, between my work and music and the power of abstraction as a unique and individual inner sound.. When I was ready and had the courage to start painting abstract, I immediately perceived the intellectual demand that my choice brought me. There was behind the chosen forms a deep sense of being. That was when Bach came and gave meaning to my work. He brought me back the memories of my father's music, and that was the leap to interpret my favorite compositions on canvas like a golden hand that was given to me by fate, as in a dialogue between me and the composer or interpreter. It has become an exchange of emotions and the beginning of a long road leading me to the light in all themes that my interior need to provide, with the knowledge that it takes only one man to change something for the better in other people's lives. Art comes to the artist as a responsibility to serve. My name*s meaning conjuncts Grace (Graça) and Peace (Paz) and I born at 4 of March 1967 in Porto, and l presently live and works in the Rural north of Portugal in Minho.
