"If we listen attentively, we can hear, amid the uproar of empires and nations, a faint flutter of wings, the gentle stirring of life and hope. William Leidenthal grew up in Palo Alto, California. He has been painting since the age of five. William has traveled extensively in Europe and the South Pacific. He now lives in Marin County (San Francisco Bay Area), California. "I make paintings about the Earth, about why our planet is the way it is—paintings about physics and chemistry, astronomy, geology, biology, etc. I make paintings about what was here before humans and what will be here after. I try to create provocative work about things that exist but cannot be seen, what is here with us in this cosmos that we don’t know and cannot understand. I do not make pictures for decoration. I make experiments in paint. "Almost anything you do will seem insignificant, but it is very important that you do it." —Gandhi
