I am inspired by the sea, its oas, its colors, its smells, the relationship that I establish between emotion and the sea. I use the metaphor between in and out of the water as what we think we see and what we don't. My work is simply a deeper look at the essence of the human being

Josep Moncada (Maó 1967) is an artist who looks into the depth of the aquatic world to visualize and paint a reality that blurs into a thousand shapes and colors, becoming an instant of charm and fascination. He is a conjurer who photographically captures a microsecond of the magic and mysteries that appear underwater, with the power to capture them on canvas and with the virtue of moving even the most neophyte viewer in art. Perhaps influenced by his zodiac sign, this Pisces explores the underwater universe and, at the same time, relates to the subconscious and that hidden dimension that beats below the threshold of what is attainable and what exists. His works are moments of a situation in constant evolution. In his paintings, moments are reflected that would go unnoticed if they were not collected and examined by his inquisitive eyes to, immediately afterwards, stamp them and immortalize them on a canvas with his color palette. A job identical to that of a psychoanalyst when he scrutinizes his patient's subconscious. In this sense, it is no coincidence that the background tones that predominate in his creations are turquoise blue together with green in its different shades. Colors coming from the refreshing and relaxing waters of the Mediterranean that bathe wonderful corners on the island of Menorca. Josep carries in his collective unconscious that color that in other cultures and times was sacred and used in rituals and ceremonies as it represents the most emotional and inspiring side, very much in harmony with his creative mind and his most sensitive personality. The sea with its movement, its glow and its light is a sedative of emotions and thoughts, it cleanses the mind and invites you to start again with renewed strength, as he himself does every time he starts a new production: calm is followed by inspiration. In his subliminal art, the scenes are led by figures that break up with objects that get in the way and that enhance impossible realities with shocking colors. The whole set with amazing and magical results, leaving a work of evident emotion and beauty that, without a doubt, leaves no one indifferent.
