Mixed media on Baltic birch with gold + silver leaf. The numerous layers are fused with carving + lyrical scrawls and finished with a UV protective varnish. This symbolic still life brings forth a sense of the universal, a sense of nature and a way to delve into humanity’s sense of belonging and connection. Note on my choice of blooms: During the Renaissance in Northern Europe artists specialized in still-life painting where depictions featured floral arrangements that, typically combined flowers from different countries and even different continents in one vase and at one moment of blooming.

Patricia DeLeon is a fine artist who focuses on human and natural forms as the primary subject within her work. Born in Caracas, Venezuela. Working intuitively with oils, acrylics, graphite and gold leaf, DeLeon creates multi-media works which fuse the acts of painting and drawing. Over time the work's multi-layered surface suggests a sense of an illuminated space. With lyrical scrawls, deep scratches and patterned mark making, her work delves into how the visible and invisible—the material and spiritual—intertwine in human experience.
