Spirit of Africa Painting

My name is Aleks Kodzu and I am an artist. Urban life of today is so full of rules, boundaries and limitations that only Art can help me transcend the routine! In my works I defy clichés my own way, mixing classical manner with other styles of all sorts using a wide repertoire of techniques and materials ranging from oil paints to things like construction plaster. Each one of my works I first conceive in my inner vision where I, like some film director, watch it unfold in the eye of my mind over and over again day after day gradually building it up and bringing together all the details and colours. Sometimes, when I explore some new technique or come up with some unexpected conception, I start with making quite a few sketches. I love traveling. Some places I have already visited while others I still dream of getting to and this is one of the key themes often reflected in my artworks both in the plot as well as in the emotions lying at the heart of it all. Another truly boundless source of inspiration for me comes from my work as a craniosacral biodynamic practitioner. This is how I enjoy the rare privilege to witness incredible stories of inner transformation unfold literally in my hands. The springs of life inside each one of us are truly miraculous and can be mesmerizing sources of endless artistic inspiration.
