This is the first of a series of realistic paintings of magenta and white orchids done in transparent watercolors. A visit to the Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanical Garden was the inspiration behind this painting. I was overwhelmed by the beauty, colors, form and shape of the hundreds of species of orchids on display there. So I decided to do a series of paintings on orchids. This is the first of the series.
