ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is inspired of walks on the small paths by the Lake Geneva in St-Sulpice close to Lausanne, where you can see the Alps on the other side on the lake, sometimes clouds cover the views and air is breathtakingly so and fresh. Work is painted on multiple layers with oil on linen and will be send in a crate.

Irma Hameri, Finnish Swiss Visual Artist. She is member of VISARTE, Visual Artist professional Association of Switzerland and IAA, International Association and SSBA- Société de Beaux Arts Genève. She has had solo exhibitions in Europe and participated to art exhibitions and art fairs in Europe and USA. Irma's paintings have been purchased to numerous private and corporate art collections in Switzerland, Finland, UK, France, Italy, Thailand, China and USA. Her colorful multilayered canvases are painted expressively and intuitively but are at the same time subtle and sensitive. Inspired from nature and travel, she also lets her life emerge in to painting process. She currently lives and works in Switzerland and has during last years also painted in artist residencies in Barcelona and Amsterdam. "For me painting is a form of meditation, like a quiet surprising moment when the mist leaves, gradually emerging an island in a horizon that I didn’t even know was there. I start each painting intuitively, as layers of paints are added forms and shapes and more complex patterns emerge in my method of working and reworking each canvas. Multiple layered paintings on acrylic and oil on canvas evolve organically and I often work with several paintings simultaneously in series allowing them to build on each other freely. The omnipresent flow with endless movement of creative energy of the universe fascinates me; from my childhood in Finland I have kept strong memories of intense emotions that I experienced while looking at a clear and star covered winter sky, and skiing on the lake observing mesmerizing polar lights floating above the near horizon. They felt almost 'living'. Following change of light in Swiss mountains or by lake captivates me - water is important element for me as I come from the lake area from Finland from a town in between four lakes. I am as much inspired from nature and rural environments, as culture in big bustling cities. Even there might be figurative elements emerging in my painting I consider my works abstract and I always let my personal life filter in to my work. I paint with natural light and in silence.
