About the Artist

Floria Rey
Violinist, Artist.

Floria Rey is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Berlin. The focus of her art is on the exploration of light and space, memory and nature. Paintings, sculptures and installations by the artist, performative and seeking form, formulate a tension boundary between surfaces and the space behind them through light and air passages. Exhibitions in NYC, ArtBasel Miami, Bristol, Luxembourg, Milan, ArtBiennale Venezia 2022, Barcelona. Artist listed on Artsy, Akoun, ArtMajeur, Artsper.
"I’m really fascinated by the way light streams into an interior, how it transforms the space and everything it touches for just a fleeting moment. That sunbeam has this almost magical quality—it turns ordinary objects into something exceptional, if only temporarily. These moments feel like liminal spaces, caught somewhere between reality and memory.
In my paintings, I try to capture that feeling. The surfaces aren’t just painted and left—they’re scraped, turned over, and reworked again and again. This process reveals the history beneath the surface, much like a palimpsest, where you can see traces of what was there before, adding depth and a sense of time passing. It’s this dialogue between light, memory, and material that really drives my work."
