Everywhere, but especially during walks at home and abroad, Danielle is constantly seeing things that could be painted. Back in the studio, she sets to work with these images in her memory, without preliminary studies or sketches. She works from intuition and expression What does she want to show through her work? Nature is grand and inventive, but at the same time unemphatic and discreet. That impossible moment between perception and capturing an image. Making you stand still and be quiet for a moment… Each work starts with thinned layers of acrylic that are applied with all kind of 'tools' (spalters, sponges, window wipers and sometimes even brooms). Her canvases lie on the floor of her studio. she starts with a layer in diluted acrylic paint in brilliant colors. In each subsequent layer, more refined approaches are discussed. Lines and strokes in diluted oil paint often show botanical and landscape motifs. Working with oil and acrylic is actually “not done” and that is precisely why this combination fascinates her. A chemical process from which structures and graphic-looking elements are created. Paint is added but also sanded off. In the striking, powerful gestures with which she applies the paint, there is a certain brutality in handwriting and touch, a determination in choosing and treating her materials. The power of her works rests on the interaction between herself and the painting in the making. And that results in paintings that ultimately always 'burst with energy and harmony'. Not everything can be observed or explained. You recognize it, but couldn't pinpoint where you saw it before. A new landscape.

About the work of Danielle van Broekhoven welcome at the account of Danielle. A intuitive, expressive and brave painter ;-) She makes large scale painting that are colorful, full of structures and chemical processes. That burst with energy and expres a great love for nature, a botanical world, art from other painters and the action of painting itself. The strength of her works is based on the interaction between herself and the painting in the making. While experimenting with paint and other materials, memories come to mind, but the action in the studio, the dialogue between her and the works created at that moment, is always leading. Painting in this phase is very intuitive, active and physical. During the painting in layers, the canvas is alternately laid down and placed upright. Large pools of acrylic paint are poured over oil paint. Parts are (again) polished away, other parts are highlighted and extra emphasized by a new layer of paint. In the striking, powerful gestures with which she applies the paint, there is a certain audacity in handwriting and brushstrokes, a determination in choosing and treating her materials. Without being fully aware of it, she brings those characteristics together in paintings that ultimately always "burst with energy and at the same time bring harmony."
