Geraniums represent the desire to be happy, according to Japanese legends. According to ancient legend, bushes of fragrant and fragrant geraniums, which were placed at the bedside of a sick boy, helped restore his strength and health. So it is believed that the flower has a positive energy, able to breathe new life into the man. In my still life, too, everything is not clear-cut. The broken board hints at conflict, but at the same time the light coloring, peaceful household objects and the delicate geranium flower give hope that all problems are solvable. The still life is painted in oil on canvas.

Russia
Hello, I am Oksana Slezina, a professional artist from Russia. I went to Art College in the small southern town of Krasnodar, where I was born. Then I moved to St. Petersburg, where I graduated from the Repin Academy of Arts. I regularly participate in exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists, which I joined in 2015. I hold personal exhibitions. Some of my works can be found in foreign collections of Britain, Finland, Russia and others. Now I teach painting at the art college and work creatively in my studio. My favorite genre is still life. I paint what surrounds me in my daily life, including flowers, which are now sold in supermarkets as everyday things. The heroes of my paintings are flowers, both exquisite created by human intervention, and ordinary wild and garden ones. I think that together with modern household objects made of metal and plastic, fragile flowers look touching and remind us that we are part of nature. In some works I tell stories, giving them meaning through details and nuances. In others, I simply admire the charming beauty of nature enclosed in the rigid frames of urban space.
