Stop and Smell the Flowers Painting

This 10x20 fluid art piece, like many of my recent paintings, was inspired by my favorite season: spring. With this painting, I wanted to demonstrate the beauty of life; when I see a light green leaf unfurling, the bud of a flower slowly opening up, or baby ducklings following their mom, any chaos around me is tuned out and all of my attention is focused on the miracle of life in front of me. I tried to capture this phenomenon through the chaotic and blurred background, a mess of blues and greens dispersed through swiping and miniature Dutch pours, interrupted by the unfurling petals of a plant, which I achieved through a copper and purple string pull. I painted this as a reminder for myself to focus on the little, beautiful miracles nature throws our way, instead of magnifying my own problems through my flawed perception.
