At the heart of my artistic practice lies an unwavering commitment to exploring and amplifying women’s stories and experiences. These narratives serve as the driving force behind my work, reflecting the depth, complexity, and resilience inherent in womanhood. Through both my underwater photography and painting, I strive to create a multifaceted dialogue that honors the diverse journeys of women, revealing the challenges, triumphs, and intricacies that shape our identities. Growing up in a remote area, the way I learned about life was deeply influenced by the media I consumed: TV shows, movies, books, and music. These narratives shaped my understanding of the world and instilled in me a profound appreciation for storytelling. This background ignited my passion to explore the untold stories of women, unfolding the rich tapestry of their experiences as a source of inspiration and empowerment. My underwater photography encapsulates the profound connection between women and water—a symbol of emotion, fluidity, and rebirth. In this series, I immerse my subjects in the transformative realm of water, capturing moments of grace and vulnerability. The underwater environment functions as a metaphor for the depths of women’s experiences, allowing me to portray their stories through the lens of introspection and liberation. Each photograph is an exploration of identity and self-discovery, inviting the viewer to reflect on the profound narratives that shape women's lives. In contrast, my painting practice delves into the complex tapestry of women’s lives through the use of colour, form, and texture. By layering these elements, I embody the myriad of emotions that accompany various experiences—joy, sorrow, struggle, and triumph. My canvases become a space for catharsis and expression, translating spoken and unspoken stories into visual language. I employ bold accidental mark making and refined details to create resonance with the audience, inviting them to confront their own relationships with femininity, power, and vulnerability. A recurring theme in both my underwater photography and painting is the exploration of identity from a feminine perspective. I seek to challenge societal norms and stereotypes, emphasizing the importance of authentic self-representation. Each piece emerges from a space of empathy, lifting up individual stories to highlight our shared experiences as women navigating a world filled with complexity and contradiction.
