Subtropical Therapy Painting

Walking the ancient mountain trails in Keelung, Taiwan The north of Taiwan has a subtropical climate, and therefore the kinds of plants that you can see along the trail is very unique and different from anywhere else. You can find the bamboos peacefully living next to Chusan palms, and tons of fern grow together with elephant's ears. This beautiful nature nursery goes along with several pools and streams. I feel this subtropical forest represents a zen kind of feeling that can only be experienced in Taiwan. It is unlike the typical Japanese zen garden, where you can't heard anything but your own breath. In this forest, everything you hear is so gentle. The breeze, and birds, and the streams, together they give you a peaceful mind within the zen. I'm especially in love with the stream in this painting. It's just like what I saw on the trail. The greenish water shows the moss growing underneath. It feel so pure and clean. I wanted this painting to convey a peaceful mind for my audience, and you can be cured and purified by all the different shades of green.
