The Palki or Palanquin was the most important means of transport of bride during medieval India. This Pendant is an accurate depiction of the bride carried to the bridegroom’s place by Palki. The arrival of the bride onto an embellished marriage dais is a breathtaking moment across every culture. It’s a heart-stopping event. It’s the first time wedding guests take in the bride in all her resplendent bridal finery. The bride's entry at wedding is an emotional and beautiful moment. In Hindu wedding tradition, a bride is equivalent to the Goddess Laxmi. Her arrival at the groom's house is marked with a lot of respect and auspiciousness. In some, the bride walks down the aisle with her father or brother, she walks under a phoolon-ki-chadar or a red chunni towards the mandap. In fact, the bride is lifted on a palki by her brothers and taken to the altar.
