ABOUT THE ARTWORK
While watching the sunset one evening, the colors were spectacular. The trees created long shadows that seemed to shimmer. I felt the need to express the intense renewed energy I felt at that moment. Wide, narrow paintings have interested me for some time. With this painting, I permanently joined three canvases together to create one long one. There are multiple layers of acrylic paint built up to create tactile layers of infinite colors. The painting surface has been varnished for UV and dust protection. The professional quality brown wood float frame is included and this painting is ready to hang.

Expressing Nature's Energy with Color & Texture Shirley Williams is a Canadian artist living and working near the US border, best known for her abstract paintings focused on layered color and tactile texture. Color and texture convey emotion at a subconscious level. Shirley Williams paintings combines these two elements to evoke associations with the energy of landscape and nature. Nature alters our consciousness and lift our spirits. In the same way that being in nature energizes us, her intention is to express this subtle energy boost through paint. Shirley Williams grew up moving often across Canada and Europe, inspired by art in every city. She worked in Toronto for many years as a documentary film producer until 1991 when she began painting full time. Her paintings have been exhibited and collected widely in both Canada and the US.
