One of the earliest works I did using this technique was of a woman swimming. It was in the begginnnings of my working in the media of color-copy heat transfers combined with enamel in order to be able to do a seamless montage with interlaced layers of found and made imagery in a painterly context. I always wanted to revisit the theme of the swimming woman. Finally I got a frined to swim in a municipal outdoor pool with the lights on at night (we weren't supposed to be there) and did some basis shots. The photography was black & white. I treated the image by converting it to negative and imposed pseudo-colour using a Canon CLC2 colour photocopier. I made tranfers of the main image on the color photocopier in tabloid format and stiched then together into one imagr. With my technique I can add and superimpose more image transfers using solvent techniques etc. and can interlace these with paint and overlap them with other images and paint. With one thing and another it was seven years between the photo shoot at the pool and the finished piece.
