About The Artwork

That swimmer going against the grain represents you being truly you. It takes courage to be yourself in a world where we´re constantly being told what we should do and who we should be. But the more you can be yourself, the more chance you´ll have of finding what you truly want. This artwork is a one-of-a-kind authentic original work hand-painted in Madrid (Spain) using enamel paint, epoxy resin and 100% recycled textiles on board, mounted onto a beautiful natural wood frame and signed on the side. It is 100% ready to hang and includes a certificate of authenticity. Swimmers Collection was created in 2019, and more than 300 collectors in over 34 countries own one. Swimmers Collection is currently represented by eight galleries and has been exhibited in six different countries. My name is Ruben, I was born in 1975 in Spain, and I am a 100% self-taught painter.

Rubén, born in 1975 in Spain, is a self-made painter whose journey into art began not long ago. His latest collection, Underwater, showcased in his profile, is a testament to his evolution as an artist. This series wouldn't have been possible without his earlier collection, Swimmers, which stemmed from a desire to convey a profound sentiment of wanting to halt and pivot in a different direction. Initially, Rubén found solace in triathlons, particularly Ironman competitions, which inspired his depiction of swimmers moving against the tide—a reflection of his own pursuit of a happier path. As he delved deeper into painting, he realized that while he hadn't reached any definitive destination, the mere act of being on the journey brought him a sense of tranquillity, vibrant colour, and fulfilment. Underwater represents a shift in perspective, moving from aerial views to submerged vistas. Through this series, Rubén captures the interplay of sunlight filtering through water, mingling with vibrant hues, symbolized by the bubbles in his paintings. Each piece features a solitary swimmer, visible only upon close examination under a transparent varnish—a metaphor for discovering hidden depths within oneself. Rubén's artwork transcends borders, with pieces gracing walls in over 34 countries and being featured in 13 fairs across the United States, Europe, and Asia in 2023. His deeply personal creations resonate with viewers, inviting them to connect with their own journeys and emotions. He hopes to evoke a response with his colour combinations, aiming for his art to find a place in the hearts and homes of those who resonate with its message. Rubén's artistic journey mirrors his quest for fulfilment, inviting viewers to dive into the depths of their own experiences and emotions through his evocative creations.
