Ships in a Box
This little abstract piece - acrylic and ink on paper - is 24 x 33 cm. It will be shipped flat, securely inside a shipping box. This art piece is part of my 'Bathtime' series celebrating the healing power of water, taking a bath. Water is the answer in many cases - a release - a swim in the sea, a cry (frustration or happiness), a cleansing glass of water with a spritz of lemon... a scented bath. A bath can be soothing, invigorating, detoxifying, relaxing and rejuvenating all at once. Cleansing body, mind and soul. The freedom of being naked, private, oneself. No one to see the wrinkles and rolls, to judge; nothing to prove to anyone. Time to think ... or not! A little, perhaps weekly, self-care and well-being ritual. A little 'pick me up'. And, oh, the afterglow when you step out and wrap that towel around you feeling renewed. I sometimes wonder if this is a uniquely female thing or do men experience this too? The image may fall into the 'erotic' category, there are exposed breasts afterall, but this is not intended. What is intended is a celebration of woman in her natural state, free, unencumbered, loving herself and taking time for herself.

Italy
Visual and mixed media artist. I returned to painting after a long gap, after suffering a stroke a few years back. What started as art as therapy has become daily, joyful creative play inspired by colour and light, The interplay between words and images intrigues me and I'm fascinated by women - their emotions, connection with nature, relationships with themselves and other women. I'm currently working on a series called 'The women' which celebrates sisterhood. I also explore abstract floral and landscape art. Seeking beauty and sparking joy as part of my personal well-being journey. As Matisse once said, 'There are always flowers for those who want to see them.' Originally from the blueberry laden Atlantic shores of Canada, I now live in Sardinia with my husband (the poet farmer) and Violetta (the cat muse).
