carographic by Carolyn Mielke is the studio of German painter Carolyn Mielke, based in Cottbus near Berlin. She creates contemporary acrylic portraits and figurative works that combine clear image architecture with expressive colour fields. Faces, gestures and attitudes become quiet but intense presences on the canvas, intended to hold their own in the room rather than simply decorate it. Trained in communication and graphic design, Mielke worked in the design and advertising field before founding her independent studio in 2011. Since then she has built a dual practice: selected graphic design on the one hand, and a steadily growing body of free painting on the other – strictly separated in content and approach. Her paintings are realised as hand-painted originals on deep gallery canvases or hand-cut linen, signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Collectors value the strong visual presence and emotional clarity of her works in contemporary interiors, from private homes to restaurants, offices and public spaces.
