THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS Painting

THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS PAINTING COLLECTION COMPRISES SEVEN PANELS. Each one is 51cmWx60cmH. The are sold and shipped together in a crate. You can find more details about this collection in my website The purpose of this project has been the artistic representation or the Seven Deadly Sins in the form of seven portraits of women. I have tried to do without the allegorical objects historically associated to these sins in the artistic representations, like the snake for the lust or food for the gluttony, and have made instead a selection of faces based on my own criteria. The pictures I have chosen are available at Pinterest and I do not have any background information neither on the character nor on the author of the picture. I must also say I have not tried to duplicate faithfully the person in question but have concentrated on the character features that suited my purpose. The main role of this series, however, is not for each of the characters depicted, but for the colour. I have followed my own instinct for the use of a determined colour combination but I have also been guided by one of the world-class experts in the subject of how the colours influence our feelings and minds, Eva Heller. Her book “Psychology of Colours” is a comprehensive treatment on each and every colour and the emotions they arise on their own and in combination with each other. As I previously stated, I have been mainly driven by my own taste, perceptions and interpretation of what I have read, so it is not my purpose to pontificate on the subject but rather to describe the steps of my own creative process.
