THIRA Painting

I'm an artist and architect from Norway now living in northern Thailand. For some years I have been working with both art and architecture and a surprise has been the experience that painting and architecture overlap each other much more than I imagined before. A self-analysis when I started painting around 1992 resulted in the recognition that people who are close to me and the environment are most important to me. Artists that have inspired me are Picasso (Blue Period), Modigliani, Rembrandt, Christian Krohg and Van Gogh. The motives can be divided into People, Environment, Heritage and Other Motivations. With parents as visual artists, the attraction to visual arts has always been there. My father was the painter Xan Krohn, my mother Edith Louise Saatvedt was a painter and my step-father was the Sculptor Erling Saatvedt. Due to problems in 2004 the paintings I had was put on a hot storage in Thailand for 5 years so some restoration was needed.
