TURBULENCE on 05/08/2015 Painting

I began creating paintings like this when I became interested in the turbulence which we are not aware of but which is taking place all around us in the form of wave energy: light waves, sound waves, microwaves; there's a wide spectrum involving waves of different lengths. (Sound waves are disturbances in air and are in a different category from light waves but they create turbulence too.) At first I called the works wave paintings. I started using 'turbulence' to widen the metaphor. The turbulence which brings light and sound to our senses seems to reflect the turbulence in our everyday lives, emotional and so on. Maybe turbulence is at the heart of things, bringing continual change. The one thing which is certain in life is that everything changes.
