About the Artist

Esther Oyeyemi

Nigeria

Esther Oyeyemi is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose work bridges personal memory and universal themes. Born in
Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, in April 1995, her passion for art was evident from a young age, leading her to experiment with diverse
mediums of expression. Esther's art is a profound exploration of dualism, identity, and memory, often reflecting her childhood
experiences. She uses acrylics to craft vivid narratives that blur the boundaries between the tangible and the intangible, inviting
viewers to engage with the dialogue between the subconscious and the environment.
Esther holds a Nigeria Certificate in Education in Painting and Graphic Arts from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education and
a Bachelor's degree in Fine and Applied Arts Education from Obafemi Awolowo University. Her work has been exhibited
internationally, with exhibitions at the Nairobi National Museum (Kenya), the Embassy of Spain (Nigeria), and Harmer Gallery
(United Kingdom), among others. In 2025, she was selected among the Top 12 finalists of the ABSA L'Atelier Art Competition, an
achievement that led to her participation in the ABSA L'Atelier Art & Lifestyle Fair in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was also
recognized among the Top 100 Nigerian Visual Artists at the Life in My City Art Festival in 2022. Her work has been featured in
Women United Art Magazine (Czech Republic) and VoyageMIA Magazine (United States).
Currently based in Oyo State, Nigeria, Esther's art serves as a bridge between her personal journey and collective human
experiences, exploring how memory, identity, and the environment shape the stories we carry and the people we become.
