About The Artwork
Tension is a painting from the Impossible Flints series. I collected stones from local fields and depicted them in plausible yet impossible arrangements. I wanted to move away from a traditional still life. My approach owes more to botanical art or cataloguing specimens. Every drone is different in colour, shape and texture. Flint is an ancient resource, I am drawn to its history. The series was made using detailed drawing with charcoal, graphite and some wax resist; colour was applied with watercolour and water based ink.
